my approach was to create a contrasting idea to the original idea, building off of the original prompt of nostalgia. i went with A minor, its a very soft almost womanly feeling. i think perfect for nostalgia. i tried to use the first melody as a start souly because of the movement of it. it goes down step wise so it has a falling feeling plus that verse movement feeling. it feels as if its moving to somewhere. and that somewhere being the chorus id say. The chorus contrasts with more syncopation, wider intervals, and repetition. as a chorus usually is. plus it has this half resolved feel. feels in the air, as nostalgia would. nostalgia is an idea u cant reach. nostalgia itself is a longing for the past id say. one final thing, the connection between the both. i want my chorus to feel like its connected but different. longer notes for the longing aspect, and shorter notes to tie in the starting melody.
