I've tried to create an arrangement that starts mellow and melancholic, dips into somber despair, and finishes on a more energetic, hopeful note. I ended up transposing the key to minor and letting the bass carry the main melody.
Oh, and of course, because no tune is truly complete without one — I added a tuba.
