D Dorian Drama

by Engel

My approach was to supplement the melody line so that the piano plays two-note intervals, with the second voice primarily playing a simple, repetitive rhythm; the first voice effectively adds flavor to the second.
I then added a chord progression featuring many major chords, along with a cello part and percussion to emphasize the 3/4 time signature. Only minor adjustments involving semitone steps were made to the original melody line.
The arrangement consists of the section preceding the tempo change and the section following it, with the latter being further subdivided. Within these three sections, bars are cut out and repositioned. Finally, a different key is chosen to create a darker mood, during which the major chords are dropped.
